Weird
LP's and CD's live on for the hype and / or groundbreaking innovations they
give us. I am sure that you all have heard of the silent LP's that surfaced
in the 70's, and the concept lives on with hidden tracks. Laraaji released
'Flow Goes the Universe' in 1992 which had contained 5 silent tracks which
range from 20 seconds to 2 minutes. Click
here to experience one.
Apart from my mother's absolute disbelief that such a thing could be done (or that I should pay good money for it), it actually works quite well (provided you set your machine to shuffle the tracks. Hearing all of the silences one after the other at the end of the CD somewhat defeats the purpose).
Laraaji's real name is Edward Larry Gordon and he has also recorded and performed as Swami Nadananda as well as being part of Channel Light Vessel (that also includes Roger Eno).
