Ambient? No, not really. But this group do have a sense of calm flat landscape (much like Norwich, where they hale from). The think that really got to me though was Tim
Bowness' voice. Why? I am not sure. The words he sings sound like well thought out teen poetry, and he is not one of the prize vocal performers. But nevertheless his voice is good and the delivery is calm and suits the material.
Finding new music - how do you do it? How about sampler CDs? No-Man were one of the feature bands on the Hidden Art sampler. This is a small label with a number of very interesting artists attached to it.As is normal on sampler CDs there is a bit of information about the artists, as well as other info, like where to send money for more CDs, and where to look on the web for more info. |
No-Man have been bubbling along for a while now, and are able to boast having worked with a number of decent labels and artists (including Robert Fripp).
Check out their web site. You can also find links to the other label stable-mates.
