After the resolution of
the ZZT injunction the band was free to resume normal duties. However only Michael
Mertens, Brian McGee and
Derek Forbes took up the challenge to continue as Propagandists. Betsi Miller
was recruited after a lengthy search for an artistically and temperamentally
suitable replacement vocalist. The new line-up was signed by Virgin Records
who released the LP '1234' in 1990. Some of the material on this album was originally
written prior to the release of 'A Secret Wish' so there is more continuity
in Propaganda than originally seems ("all that we see or seem is but a
dream within a dream" after all).
ZZT lost 'Art of Noise', another avante garde 80's outfit with a strong presence and musical excellence.
1990
- another Propaganda LP and 2 singles are released, but the line-up is very
different to the original ZZT line-up Michael Mertens - Percussion; Derek Forbes
- Bass; Betsi Miller - Vocals; Brian McGee - Drums.
Over the years there have been a number of rumours, press releases and hopes all pointing towards a reformation of the band or the release of older material.
