Finding Ambient Artists & Music
.............................................

Do you have trouble finding new music? If you like music that is not seen as 'commercial' or main stream the answer will probably be yes. Here are some tips on how I find new ambinet music sources.

Your local chain store record seller is liable to be as useless as a chocolate CD-R. Try independant record shops and second hand shops. If you are lucky you will find someone who knows what ambient music is, even if they do not stock it.

Try larger on line retailers for the major artists. Most record sellers will stock records by Brian Eno, Harold Budd etc. There are also a couple of specialist on line retailers worth checking out.

Try searches for 'ambient music sales' on google.com (or your favourite search engine). That can sometimes flush out worthwhile sources.

Try record label web sites and band or artist web sites. These are often a good source of samples.

Here are some links I have found to get you started:

Good supplier who manage to find all worts of 'rarities' and imports, dont charge the earth, but may take a long time to locate difficult stuff (I have waited a couple of months for them to find some CD's, they are very efficient with easy orders though!)

Cheap or What, decent UK supplier free postage in UK, also good at flushing out difficult stuff. Will keep stuff on order for a while and do respond to questions about likely order times etc.
